Field Testing Regretfully Canceled for Lightning Lit & Comp Grade 4 Course

“The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men
Gang aft agley” – Robert Burns (1758)
Our best laid schemes were to write a complete elementary program for Lightning Lit from Grades 1 through Grade 6 in just six years. Unfortunately, the time pressures of this schedule, and of field testing, have become untenable for a staff our size.  Each grade is more complex than the last, and we don’t intend to allow the quality to slide in future grades.  Since we want to produce the best possible product, we find keeping to our original plan impossible.  We will not be field testing Grades 4 through 6, and future Lightning Lit elementary grades will be available as completed products when they are finished.

For those of you who have participated already, we send our thanks and hope you feel you have laid the best possible language arts foundation for your children. For those of you who have just signed up for Grade 4, we offer our apologies and hope you will have time to find a program that will be a good substitute.

Grades 1 and 2 are already available, and Grade 3 will be available for sale by September.   We will contact you when Grade 4 is finished and offer you a substantial discount for its purchase.  Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Hewitt Homeschooling.

Relax each day

Relax daily. Plan time to do this. Reflect back

Everyone needs a hug and a kiss. Remember to show your children love each day.  Look them in the eye and tell them; then put your arms around them and show them.

Say and show that you love them

Item 7 - Mint

You are worth a mint

You are worth a mint. Many parents have grown
up in homes where they didn't feel valued. If you
realize what you are worth, you can help pass that on
to your children.

Item 6 - Gum

Stick with it

Stick with it. Perseverance will be one of the best traits that you can model for your children.  On days when you feel like you can't do one more day of homeschooling - just "do the next thing" as Elisabeth Elliot says, and you'll find the strength to do the next.

Item 5 - Eraser

Everyone makes mistakes!

Everyone makes mistakes.  Accept that this is going to happen - often.  They won't just be math errors - those will be easier to correct.  Things such as bad attitudes and hasty words all need to be forgiven and erased so that you can move on.

Homeschool Survival Kit - Item 4 - Pencil

Homeschool Survival Kit

Welcome to Homeschooling!

We would like to share with you what we believe are some guiding principles of Homeschooling. These ideas come from over 30 years of experience in the homeschool movement.  Please give us your thoughts and stories about your own homeschooling experiences.

Here is another helpful tip on how to make your homeschooling experience work for you and your children.

In a New Year’s sermon, a pastor listed nine points to see us through the year one day at a time. We thought they applied to homeschooling perfectly. We suggest that you refer to them frequently, because it’s easy to forget that principles are the most important things that you are teaching. We hope you find this useful ...

Item 4 - Pencil

Count your blessings

List your blessings.  Even if you are having a bad day, it will go better if you stop and think about all the good things that are happening.
